What a busy morning we all had. Miss Briony had the children starting early with the task of cooking pancakes in readiness for the arrival of the grandparents. The centre took on the aroma of an early morning pancake parlour and many of the mums who skip breakfast during the task of getting the children ready for preschool before rushing off to work were wishing they could stay to share the food. (The children managed to provide a few pancakes to the hungry mums).
Cooking under strict supervision, the children were very careful and aware of safety measures required around the hotplate as they poured the mixture onto the plate, turned the pancakes as required and then lifted them off and on to the plate ready for the grandparents. They also cooked some penguin shaped waffles which also proved very popular and made the children very proud of themselves. Our photo is a study of concentration as Izabella, ably supervised by Gus and Miss Briony, carefully prepares to lift her finished masterpiece off the hotplate.
Lots were cooked and there wasn't a single pancake or waffle left over.
The excitement on the children's faces as they introduced their grandparents and grandfriends to the teachers was wonderful to see.
Lots of grandparents and lots of children and a beautiful warm morning gave us the opportunity to spend time outside.
The staff and children at The Learning Centre would like to thank all the grandparents for making the effort to share this morning with us and we look forward to seeing many of you back next year, if not before at our Christmas and Graduation Party on Friday 15 December.
